as a distraction from her long-time love and steady boyfriend’s sudden move to london, lydia martin starts hooking up with one stiles stilinski, loser extraordinaire. she figures he’s safe because his popularity runs into negative digits— he’ll be so thrilled with the opportunity to be with the coolest, smartest, most beautiful girl in school that he’ll do whatever she says, meet her every rule. rule one: it’s only sex. rule two: no public interaction. rule three: when it ends, it’s over for good.
it works surprisingly well. that is, until it doesn’t. until they talk and he listens. until they argue and he makes her laugh. until they fuck and his touches are reverent, worshipful. until they text and she smiles, eagerly awaiting his next reply.
until lydia martin falls in love.
but he wants more. he wants her to not be ashamed of him. he wants to be able to wait for her at her locker. he wants to be able to carry her books. he wants to drive her wherever she asks in that ugly old jeep of his. and that’s the kicker— she wants it, too. but she doesn’t know how to keep it alive, make it work when other people get involved. no one knowing about them makes what they have special, and she’s scared to give that up. not to mention, lydia martin doesn’t date losers.
(she calls him one like it’s a statement of fact, but now that she knows him she wishes everyone else could see what she can: that he’s anything but.)
so, she stops seeing him, stops talking to him, stops texting him, stops everything. a devastated, confused stiles approaches her at school after a week, tries to pull her away during lunch to talk. when she rebuffs him, jackson’s friends come to her defense, and she doesn’t stop them.
stiles escapes with a busted face and a bruised ego; nothing’s broken but his trust in the girl he loves. overwhelmed with guilt, lydia visits him at his house, only to find out his few friends have taken him out to help him get over her and her betrayal. she texts him, but gets no response. it’s a new feeling for her, and she hates it.
his father lets her in with a suspicious look, but says nothing as she goes to stiles’ room to wait. when he finally comes back well past midnight (sober, thank god), she’s still there. she opens her mouth to say “i’m sorry,” but he stops her, because he already knows. he counters it with a quiet, “i missed you,” and lydia trusts that he means it. “i love you,” she confesses, and she’s relieved to see him smile.
when they show up at school hand-in-hand the next day, she’s so absorbed in her conversation with stiles that she forgets to care when everyone stares.

"orange and blue, not a good combination."
"okay, maybe orange and blue is not the best. sometimes there’s other things you wouldn’t think would be a good combination end up turning out to be, like, a perfect combination.”
i just realized there are a lot of scenes that would of been awesome stydia scenes but the didnt show them such as:
Stiles picking up Lydia for junior prom and the car ride there
Stiles and Lydia at the dressing room when Lydia was trying on dresses
When Stiles went to Lydia’s house to apologizes for ditching her at her car when she was crying (i want this scene so bad!)
Lydia actually opening her birthday gift from Stiles
The scene after Lydia gets a jacket and Stiles falls over
Stiles finding Lydia after he yelled at her in 2x12 and driving to the warehouse
grr sometimes i get so mad at jeff davis why did he have to leave out all these awesome scenes
